Aims and Features of the Conference
The Mathematics Conference for Young Researchers (MCYR) is organized primarily by graduate students in mathematics at Hokkaido University. It aims to bring together young researchers from a wide range of mathematical fields so that they can develop their research through presentations and discussion, discover new topics and ideas, and expand their professional networks.
The conference features talks primarily in four broad areas: algebra, geometry, analysis, and mathematical sciences. We encourage interaction across disciplinary boundaries. Examples of research topics in each area include the following:
Algebra: algebraic geometry / combinatorics / commutative ring theory / operator algebras / representation theory
Geometry: complex geometry / differential geometry / integrable systems / symplectic geometry / topology
Analysis: functional analysis / harmonic analysis / ordinary differential equations / partial differential equations / probability theory
Mathematical Sciences: dynamical systems / ergodic theory / graph theory / machine learning / mathematical modeling / statistical mechanics / theory of computation
We welcome presentations not only on the topics listed above, but also on related work, interdisciplinary research, and emerging topics that do not fit neatly within established categories. MCYR seeks to provide a forum where researchers from diverse backgrounds can encounter one another’s perspectives and methods, engage in discussion across fields, and develop new ideas and research connections.
The conference offers the following three presentation formats. For details, please see For Speakers and Attendees .
- Single sessions, which emphasize an accessible introduction for participants outside the speaker’s field (50-minute talk + 10-minute Q&A)
- Parallel sessions, which focus on specialized content and in-depth research discussion (25-minute talk + 5-minute Q&A)
- Poster sessions, which allow presenters to discuss their work with a broad range of participants
Who May Present or Attend
MCYR welcomes presentation applications from master’s and doctoral students. Applications from postdoctoral researchers and others who are not graduate students are also welcome. If we receive more applications than we can accommodate, priority may be given to graduate students. Undergraduate students interested in presenting are invited to contact us using the address below. Attendance is open to everyone, including undergraduate students, regardless of affiliation, year of study, or position.
