History of the Symposium

Northeastern Symposium on Mathematical Analysis was first held in February of 2000 at Sapporo Guest House and the second one in February of 2001 at Tohoku University. The symposium is held either in Sapporo or in Sendai and usually lasts for two days in February.

Northeastern Symposium on Mathematical Analysis was started at the suggestion of Professor Izumi Takagi of Tohoku University, and the first meeting was organized by Professor Takagi and Professor Yoshikazu Giga of Hokkaido University. The number of participants was over 50, which was more than what the organizers had expected.
