PDE seminar: Self-similar solution for fourth order curvature flow equation (A problem with incompatible initial data)

Our study is the problem of the existence of the selfsimilar
solution for the surface diffusion flow in onedimensional
case with nonlinear boundary conditions.
This problem was proposed by W. W. Mullins '57 to
describe the thermalgrooving.
In this talk, we show the existence of self-similar solution
of the differential form of the surface diffusion flow
with linearized boundary conditions.
