The boundary blowup problem arises from physics, geometry and many branches of
mathematics. In this talk we consider the existence and uniqueness of a solution to the
boundary blowup problem for the curvature equation of the form $H_k[u]=f(u)g(Du)$,
which is determined by the $k$th elementary symmetric function.
