Abstract:
Proposed by Whitney in 1965, the notion of A-regularity for stratified sets
is now classical and an essential ingredient of the theory of singular spaces
in differential topology and algebraic geometry. We describe old and new
characterizations related to openness of the set of transverse maps, and
topological stability. Recently there have been applications in complex geometry,
bifurcation theory, stability theory, control and dynamics.
