The dynamics of elastic closed curves in the plane under some constraints
In this talk, we consider the dynamics of a closed curve made of springy wire in the plane under some constraints. We formulate the dynamics of curves as follows:(i)The motion of the wire is governed by the gradient flow of an appropriate energy functional with some constraints.(ii)The eventual shape of the wire is determined by the constrained variational problem for the energy functional.
