Research

My research interest is contact topology. So far I worked a bit on the construction of contact manifolds. I used Giroux's open book construction to find examples of contact manifolds. I am also interested in a (non-)uniqueness problem: try and find non-isomorphic contact structures on a given manifold. To this end I use contact homology, but mainly in its simplest form.

Thesis

• Otto van Koert Open books for contact five-manifolds and applications of contact homology Ph.D. thesis, Köln 2005: The first half of my thesis is about the construction of contact structures on five-manifolds using open books. The second half is concerned with contact homology of Brieskorn manifolds and some related examples.
