How to get to Matsue
Matsue is located on the main island of Japan. Matsue City provides a nice Map for flights. Japan has two major gateways, Tokyo-Narita Airport and Osaka-Kansai Airport. We have two local airports near Matsue-City; Izumo Airport and Yonago Airport. JAL and ANA operate connection flights between these airports and Tokyo-Haneda and/or Osaka-Itami Airports. There are NO direct flights between Narita/Kansai and Izumo/Yonago. So, you need to travel from the international airports (Narita/Kansai) to domestic airports (Haneda/Itami). Usually, we take a shuttle bus between Narata-Haneda Airports. See details. You may also take train from Narita/Kansai to Matsue, though it takes around 7.5 hours (Narita) or 5 hours (Kansai). Recent timetable between Haneda and Izumo/Yonago is as follows:
The workshop will take place at Interdisciplinary Faculty of Science and Engineering, Shimane University, located 4km north to Matsue JR station. It takes about 15 minutes by bus. The nearest bus stop is "Shimane Daigaku Mae" or "Kawatsu" for loop line. "Daigau" means university in Japanese.
