A viscosity solution is a notion of weak solutions to nonlinear partial differential equations introduced by Crandall and Lions at the beginning of the 1980's. Its wide application includes optimal controls, differential games and a level-set method for evolving interfaces and so on.
In this talk, I will present a recent development of the theory of viscosity solutions in some non-Euclidean spaces such as network spaces. I will also explain a notion of viscosity solutions to eikonal equations in a general metric space introduced by the speaker's. We establish a comparison principle, and give a representation formula of the unique solution by considering the corresponding optimal control problem.
