 In this talk, we consider the Cauchy problem for the nonlinear damped wave equation with slowly decaying initial data. We show the global existence of solutions with small initial data for the supercritical nonlinearity. Moreover, we prove that the asymptotic profile of the global solution is given by that of the corresponding parabolic problem. Also, we will mention about the blowup and estimates of the lifespan of solutions for the subcritical nonlinearity. This talk is based on a joint work with Masahiro Ikeda and Takahisa Inui (Kyoto University).
