Image processing and computer vision are typical important fields of information science and technology.
Several areas of mathematics have contributed to essential progress of these fields. Unfortunately, however, the ties between information science and mathematics are not strong enough, especially in Japan.
This symposium is organized to promote interaction between researchers of information science and mathematicians of several fields including analysis and geometry.
We would greatly appreciate it if we could help mathematicians become more familiar with information technology and likewise, information scientists become more familiar with modern mathematics through this symposium.
